Can a 3,500 Pound Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack Handle Tongue Weight on 4,900 Pound Trailer

Hello, the current jack is old and faded. I am unable to find out the capacity of the current jack. I want to upgrade to an Electric Jack. my trailer GVWR is 4900 lbs. will a 3500 lbs jack work?

The tongue weight of a trailer is typically 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight but could be more. That would make the tongue weight of your trailer around 490 to 735 pounds. An electric jack rated for 3,500 pounds, such as # LC285318, would work well for your trailer. The higher the capacity of the jack the easier it will be for it to do its job meaning it will last longer.
