Does 2012 Toyota Hi-Lux Pickup Have a Brake Controller Connection Port Under the Dash
Question:
Hi, I want to hook up a Prodigy P2 brake controller into a 2012 Toyota Hilux, i am in Australia so its right hand drive. I have seen you your Utube video connecting one to a 2012 Tacoma. I have had a good look for that plug on the wiring but cant find one. Are you able to tell me if this model has one and if so where can i find it?

If your 2012 Toyota Hi-Lux made for the Australian market has a quick-connect port for a brake controller it may use different under-dash connectors than those used on vehicles for the U.S. market. We do not have any information on parts intended specifically for Australian versions of the truck.
The Tacoma for the U.S. market when equipped with a factory 7-way can use quick-connect adapter harness # 3040-P to connect a brake controller to the under-dash port. Please refer to the linked photo showing the connector on this harness.
If a port is not included on your truck you can still do a hard-wired brake controller installation. The linked article will give you details. You will need to find wires that provide +12V power to the controller, a brake light switch signal to trigger the braking action, a ground and an output wire to carry the controller's output signal to the trailer connector (of the type needed to match your trailer).
