The Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Socket # HM40975 that you referenced is a combination 4-pole/7-way vehicle-side socket for use in the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder that is equipped with the factory tow package. This part plugs in to the vehicle's wiring using its round U.S. Car Connector that would currently be installed at the back of the factory 7-way.
I have linked you to a video showing this item being installed in a different vehicle; although the truck is different the process will be the generally the same on your Pathfinder.
I also suggest using an application of dielectric grease on the U.S. Car Connector to prevent entry of moisture and any potential corrosion issues that could arise. You can use # LT37534 from Loctite or a comparable dielectric grease product.
