Is the Illumination Wire on a 1998 Ford Expedition Needed to Install a Brake Controller

1998 ford expedition. Has wire from factory for illumination. Where do I connect to on controller? Or leave it off.

The illumination wire on your 1998 Ford Expedition will not be used with a brake controller such as # 39510 (or any of the brake controllers we carry). You can cap it off and stow it out of the way.
The brake controller will have just the 4 wires: white for ground, black for 12 volt power, blue for output to the trailer brakes, and red for input from the brake switch.
