Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness. The connection point for the 7-way harness is located behind the rear bumper. The converter plugs into the factory wiring harness in your cargo area, on the driver's side. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the included fuses into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a 2-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on 1 wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's 3-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

The harness was completely plug in on my honda pilot. Need only to drill a 2” hole next to the trailer hitch to mount the plug. Took all of 15 mins to complete the installation. So easy and continues to work well. No trailer light problems at all.

The wiring harness still works perfectly. No issues with computer. Wonderful product.

Simple and easy plug and play solution for the Honda factory omission of including the wiring harness with the trailer towing package. We’ve been using it for a year now and it has been flawless. Anybody can install this harness in 10 minutes.

2015 Honda Pilot

Put on a 2015 Honda Pilot. Checked out a few youtube videos that were poorly explained but enough for someone like myself to do it better. Very much plug and play except for the mounting. Connections have been solid and no problems to report after a year of use. I'd say I tow about twice a month.

It was exactly what I needed and the shipping was lightning fast. I would give it a 7 out of five stars if it had come with black self tapping screws. I’m a satisfied customer and will do business with them again.

2014 Honda Pilot

Needed a trailer wiring kit for my 2014 Honda Pilot EX. I am not mechanically inclined, so excuse me for some of the things that may not make sense to you. After reading all the great reviews contributed by the customer plus a few videos on the web, I felt I should be able to handle this task. This product gets 4 starts instead of 5 due to the fittings of the 7 way plug and the black box module. First, there was a variance with the 7 way plug mount. As most of the reviewers used 1/4"-20 sized screws, these were too wide for the kit I received. I ended up replacing them with 10-24 x 3/4 stainless and 10-24 stainless Hex nut with #10 stainless washers. I am sure Nylock's may be fine but I do not have experience with them or removing them. The rivets are a great idea but they are a pain to remove if you need to remove this mount one day. Used a 2" hole saw and cut a piece near the top of the mount. I wanted as much flat surface as possible, and drilled the holes with a 3/16" bit. Next I located the plug under the car that connects to the 7 Way. Just remember it's on the driver side behind the exhaust pipe. This is probably the worst part of the install, or I would call the Grey plug of death. Most videos will show people trying to remove it and cut to the part where it's removed... I guess all the cursing and the head banging was edited out. I tried to pull it apart with an adjustable wrench and it did not budge. Tried to push the long grey clip near the wire to see if it will release, no deal. At this point frustration will set it and you feel compelled to rip the thing apart with whatever tools you have... don't. First get a flat headed screwdriver and gently release the blue tab that holds the plug. Then again, "gently" pull it off the car and wrap the wire around the exhaust to the back of the bumper. You must remove the blue tab off the plug, push on the small release tab on top and push the blue tab off. The blue tab acts like a locking mechanism, it keeps the plug from separating. Apply some dielectric grease and connect to the 7 way wire. Run the wire under the bumper and plug it into the 7 way mount. Before you do that, push back on the gray tab on the top and apply some dieletric grease, plug it in and push the lock in. Like previous reviews, this plug does not fit perfectly so the locking mechanism on mine was useless. It sits tight enough though. Use zip ties to secure the wires, you don't want it to flop or when it comes time to use the spare tire, you don't want the tire to rip the wire off the mount. Onto the black box. On left side of truck, open the hatch, and open the inside hatch. Use a flat head screwdriver and pry open the fuse hatch. If don't have a silver box inside the big hatch, use you left hand to install the white plug.. if you have a silver box like me, you have no choice but to install the black box with one hand. Locate the white plug inside the fuse hatch, take the white plug on the black box and attach it with your hand, palm side up. The wire is stiff enough where it will line up and make sure you hear the click. Push the wire back and slide the black box along the metal clip until the tab locks in. My box didn't fit along the clip, so I zip tied around the black box and slid the box where the tab goes under the zip tie. Open your hood, it's the fuse box to the right next to battery. Open and install the fuse. Test the lights and you are good to go. I painted the screws so it matches. So it loses a star due to the poor manufacturing of the 7 way and the black box. The product is great and etrailer gets 5 stars. Good luck with the install, should take less than an hour if you can remove the blue tab quickly and get the right screws.

Product still working great and holding up. Only complaint, if I had one was the connection I mentioned, it didn’t not click and lock like it was suppose to.. but as long as it was tight, it’s fine. Another great product from etrailer Thank you for asking

2013 Honda Pilot

I just purchased a new 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L/Nav and tow package. The odd thing to me is that Honda installs a nice hitch, but no wiring. I shopped a number of on-line services as Honda prices (even discounted) are absurd. As always, I ended up at etrailer.com. To be candid I was not excited about messing with wiring on a new vehicle, but this wiring harness is (#118265) AWESOME! All in it might have been an hour, but directions and all fittings were perfect. I would not recommend the mounting box as it simply is not required.

There is a clearly identified area next to the hitch where the recepticle will be installed. We simply used a hole saw on a cordless drill and did a bit of trimming. Once you get the hole "right" it's as simple as drilling pilot holes for the 4 corner. We used stainless steel screws (1/4" x 20 x 1.5" and 1/4 x 20 x 1") and stainless nylock nuts to secure the recepticle even though the screws actually threaded up snugly with the bumper cover.

All in all, a very tidy installation! And as always, customer support was awesome!

2012 Honda Pilot

The product, OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness with 7-Way Connector - 118265, was exactly what I needed. I installed this myself in a 2012 Honda Pilot EX-L that comes with an incomplete tow package (no wiring harness). Installation was easy with the instructions and a little research. All plugs were exact fits.

I used a hole saw and cut on the opposite side of the hitch since the harness reached without issue. The application is a little different than the Honda configured cutout. I purchased 4 each of screws, washers, and lock nuts for less than a dollar and secured the connector. I had a mechanic test the connection and everything checked out.

8/30/2014

Hi Casey, I have the exact same pilot, and I am confused about what i actually need for the wiring. Some sites indiacte i need to take out the third row, open up a panel, and do some installations inside the vehicle. Form the comments here, it sounds like all that is required is to plugg the harness into the existing receptacle behind the bumper and install the 7 pin plug on the bumper beside the hitch. Did you have to do the long way or the easy way?Dustin

Casey B.

9/2/2014

Dustin - Connections that are made inside are through the panel which are accessible without removing seats. I think I just laid the third row down for access. The other connection is behind the bumper. Its an easy application as far as harnesses go. Cutting the hole and fitting plug was the most difficult part. A dremel type tool for cutting and shaping the cutout is recommended.

Great product, easy to install and a perfect alternative to the much more expensive Honda harness for my 2012 EX-L. Just a couple of things to note: 1: There is a metal tab in the AUX FUSE box that can be used to mount the black box module. The box is not a perfect fit on the tab unfortunately, but you can get creative with zip ties, etc. to make it work. 2: The grey connector attached above the driver side exhaust tip has a release lever on the back. You can't see it, but it's there and once you're able to move the lever, the connector will release so you can remove the factory cap and connect the 7-way harness to it. Afterwards, just slide it back into the original location and listen for the engagement click.

Also, I was not too excited about drilling a 2 inch hole in my bumper and the additional four holes to mount the receptacle into the factory "punch-out" location like many others here did, and instead came up with a different option. I crafted a sturdy mounting bracket from some aluminum stock and attached the receptacle to the mount point right behind and next to the punch-out in the bumper. I like this better as it's concealed, required no drilling and is still easy to access. Pic attached of what I did.

There is a bracket and hardware kit that is sold separately, over in the related parts section, that includes a bracket and all the needed hardware. Its part # PK12711U.

The kit arrived shortly after ordered. The wiring kit was easy to install just as described. The Youtube video was useful as well in making the installation a breeze.

2012 Honda Pilot

I was able to install the wiring harness without a problem. It took about 45 minutes to an hour the most. I used a 2 inch hole saw to cut the plastic bumper and install trailer adapter. I used four 1/4 20 x 1 inch screws as shown in the picture. Tested and it was okay! The only thing that bothered me was the waiting period from the time I ordered the product and the delivery, because it took at least ten days before it arrived. I think it is very good product. Thanks also for Honda for the good design of their electrical system on the Pilot. Easy access to all the connections made it a worthwhile project to save time and money.

This trailer harness is easy to install and works great. It looks factory! I highly recommend! Price is reasonable too! You don’t have to go to [trailer rental location] and pay them to [rig up] a harness back there. You can do this yourself with this kit

2013 Honda Pilot

Perfect product. the wiring Fits perfect. Recommendation, the connector behind the bumper, the video shows remove the connector cover using a tongs with it in place. I spend more time trying to remove the cover than the complete installation at all. If remove the connector from the purple clip that hold it, you will save a lot of time and headache removing the cover. I also purchase the mounting bracket but didn't use it. I just cut a hole that the 7 pin connectors pass thorough and attached it to the bumper with the hardware that came with the bracket. It holds very rigid.

2013 Honda Pilot

I purchased this for my 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L. I have not used the wiring harness yet, but the installation was extremely easy and quick. The instructions were very straightforward, and I was able to install everything within 30 minutes. Everything you need is inside the package except some bolts/nuts to mount the connector. I decided to cut out a hole and drill some holes for bolts. I opted for some black ones to match the colors. I'm extremely happy with this product and etrailer's fast and reliable service.

Very easy install! All plug n play the hardest part is cutting the hole 4 the 7 way. I did end up having a defective converter box in my kit. Etrailer was quick to respond and sent me a replacement. Works perfect now! I did upgrade the 7 way to a dual unit (7way+4way) works great, great service and great price

by:
2015 Honda Pilot

Product fit perfect everything went smooth . Only tools needed really was a screwdriver , a drill and a 2” hole saw bit( to drill hole out for receiver).
Best tip for install is when you take out the factory wiring harness Capp under the vehicle by the exhaust is to unclip it from the frame . If not you will fight taking it off. Thanks etrailer !!

by:
2012 Honda Pilot

This kit is very easy to install on my 2012 Honda Pilot EX-L and came with almost everything needed to install it. It was only missing 4 screws to secure the 7 pin plug onto vehicle’s the plastic trim but any type of small screws or bolts would work. Definitely recommended to anyone who’s looking to install a 7 pin trailer harness.

by:

There is nothing wrong with this product. It works just fine. The reasons its not a 5 star review are two. 1)Directions are wrong or misleading for a 2015 Pilot. The pictures provided for the harness install portion (ie. The wire with the relays) dont even show the correct compartment to go to. The directions do say the panel with AUX on it, but the pictures show a panel that has nothing to do with install. 2) the 7 pin connection part (with the flap and attaching holes) is too wide for portion on the Pilot's plastic trailer hitch moulding.
Would be better if some bolts (black) and nuts were provided. As well as recess the bolt holes for a cleaner install.
All of this is just freviewing the product. etrailers provided fast shippong and great communication. Would happily do business again.

Finally installed trailer wiring for Honda Pilot. Easier than I thought it would be. Had a stubborn protective cap on cars wiring. After I got it off the job was simple. Enclosed is a photo of plug installation, the only visible item used. Fastened with 3/16 x 1/2 long alum pop rivets. Looks clean.

by:

Everything seems to go very well on installing this harness.
Not really any issues following the installation instructions that came with it.
The worst part of the whole project was cutting the hole in the vehicle for the 7 way trailer connector.

by:
2012 Honda Pilot

Excellent product, easy to install with provided directions. Note to future installers: the hole required on the bumper plastic is the exact size as a Black and Decker doorknob installation holesaw... So thats what I used. I also drilled out the holes in the receptical to be 1/4 dia so I could use standard screws... Total time, maybe half hour.

by:

Got my order a day ahead of the projected delivery date!! James was very helpful all the way through with the order and it helped tremendously that he was knowledgeable about the product. I wasn’t!
I had the trailer taillight wiring harness installed in 1 hour!! Very easy!! Thanks again for another great towing product.

Nice product. installed yesterday Sunday July 8. Only problem we had was when we tested the plug, right turn signal wasn't working. Unplugged it and pushed the plug back in and then it worked. Don't know if there was something in the way or bad connection. Hopefully it doesn't give me problems in the future.

  • Could the 7 and 4-Way Connector # 20119 be Used on a OEM Tow Package Wiring # 118265

This is because the weight capacity of these attachment styles are higher and can accommodate a safe amount of static weight capacity needed to...
