Question:
We have a 2008 Ford Explorer and I was hoping to buy my husband a cargo carrier for xmas. I have no idea what to get or what I should be looking for.

The first thing you need to determine is if the Explorer has a hitch installed. If there is a hitch on the Explorer, measure the inside of the receiver opening. This measurement will be either 2 by 2 inches or 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inches. If there is no hitch on the Explorer then I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Round Tube Trailer Hitch, item # 75437.
If there is a hitch and it measures 2 by 2 inches then I would recommend the 24x60 Pro series carrier # 63153. This carrier has a capacity of 500 pounds.
If there is a hitch and it measures 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inches then I would recommend the 20x47 Cargo Carrier For 1-1/4 inch Trailer Hitch Receivers, item # 63155. At this time there are no folding carriers available for the 1-1/4 inch hitches.
