Should The Cam Position On The Curt TruTrack # C17500 Be Adjusted For a 51.5 Degree Frame Angle
Question:
Hi there, I bought the C17500 almost a year ago. Its working well. Im constantly tweaking it to make the ride better. I noticed the instructions state: TruTrackā¢ is designed to work in two neutral spring bar settings to fit most A-frame trailers. The spring bars can easily be repositioned in the 30° or 70° position +/-5°. For narrow frames 50° and less no adjustment is needed as it comes preset in the narrow setting. For wider frames over 50° adjustment is needed. I took an angle finder to my frame and found it to be 51.5 degrees. But I am still towing with the spring bars set to the narrow position - 30 degrees. Should I move them out to the wide position - 70 degrees? Or am I so close to the 50 degree threshold that I should just leave it at 30 degrees? Will it make that much of a difference? Silverado 1500 with Road Active Suspension and Sumo Springs purchased from E-Trailer pulling 316inch travel trailer with 750 lb or more tongue weight w/7,000 lb. trailer - loaded weight.

Honestly Jeff, you are so close to the 50 degree frame that I don't feel like adjusting the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17500 will give you a noticeable difference. Obviously the decision is yours to try making the adjustment and it honestly is not going to hurt anything or require you to buy any replacement parts. And if you feel like the adjustment made it worse then you can easily move it back to the original position. The instructions for the hitch are listed below so you can verify all the steps needed to adjust the spring bars positioning.
