Troubleshooting Landing Gear Fuse Blowing On a 2009 Keystone Montana
Question:
I have a 2009 Montana 10th Anniversary LE 3605 the issue I am having is when putting down the landing gear the fuse for the system constantly blows. I went through 5 30-amp fuses before resorting to manually putting the gear down with the crank, that was a lot of work. Doesn't seem to be an issue when retracting just extending. I bought the trailer used so don't know if the motor was replaced or if it is original. It is defiantly pulling to many amps when lifting, Any Ideas?

Most often we find that a short has developed in the wiring which is usually caused from the trailer moving down the road over the years. You will want to start by tracing as much wiring as you can to look for anywhere the wiring may be damaged. You can verify the motor draw by using leads directly to a battery and an amp meter. If you do not have these tools most automotive repair shops can easily run the test which will let you know if the motor is bad.
