How Many Amps Does Tekonsha Trailer Wiring 118694 Draw
Question:
How many amps does the Part # 118694 module require to operate? I have a 12 volt power supply at the rear of the vehicle already so rather then running all the way to the battery I can utilize that power however the documentation does not specify how many amps is used to run the module.

Hey Anthony, the Tekonsha trailer wiring harness # 118694 will draw up to 4.2 amps for the stop/turn circuit and 7.5 amps for the running light circuit.
Now with that said it still is required that you run the power wire up to the vehicle battery as annoying as that seems. The reason for this is that in the event the trailer wiring has a short it won't take out any vehicle wiring circuits as this is essentially a form of circuit protection.
