Parts Needed To Add A Brake Controller To A 1997 F 250 With A 7-Way But Only The 4-Flat Functions
Question:
Hello, I have a1997 Ford f250hd. It had an old 4 pin round connector in it. I replaced it with a7 blade, just the basic 4 wires for lights. I now have a travel trailer with e brakes and need to incorporate the rest of the wires. I do have both of the factory installed wire plug tails underneath the bumper, one is a round 4 pin, the other is a round three pin. Im looking for a plug and play adapter to go from those 2, from what Ive found c424 and c404 connectors, to plug into a7 blade without having to cut them off. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Jesse, cool name. We do have a potential solution for you, but I am afraid we do not offer any kind of plug-and-play adapter that can be used for this purpose. We do however, make a wiring kit that is essentially made specifically for this application with Item # 5506. This will include all of the additional components you need to run the additional wires for the 7-way and add a brake controller. See the wiring diagram below. That will cover everything except the reverse light function for the 7-way, which you do not necessarily need. If you want to add reverse you would just run a wire and quick splice into the reverse light circuit.
From there you can install really any brake controller of your choice. What I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 since it is our most user-friendly and dependable controller.
