Recommended Solution to Carry 4 65 lb Bikes With a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300

Question:

I have a Mercedes C 300 coupe. I want to know what hitch should I purchase for the car. I am looking at a Thule bike rack with a 2 instead of 1 1/4. My bikes are 4 fat tire Bandit they weigh 65 lbs each

We only have one option for your 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 coupe, and that's the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11485. This is a class I that has a max weight capacity of 2,000 lbs, and has a max tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs.

So, with your 4 fat tire bikes that weight 65 lbs each, you're going to have to go a different route because there isn't going to be any class I racks that have that capacity.

I'd recommend just trailering your bikes since they are going to be quite heavy, it's going to be much easier and offer the capacity you need.

I only have 2 fat tire bikes that weigh 65 each (140 lbs). What option would work?

@Cindyhudson Cindy, you're going to be pretty tapped on capacity but the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bike # TH99XE could work depending on how wide your tries are. This bike rack can handle the 140 lbs your bikes need and will work with 1 1/4" hitches, but this rack can only handle 3 3/16" wide tires.

@BryceD My tires are 4" What rack would you suggest for 2 e bikes, total weight would be 140 lbs using 1.25" hitch. I have a Mercedes C300 coupe.

@BikeS The heaviest we have for your situation would be the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH23JV which can handle up to 100 lbs total, 5" wide tires, and works with a class I hitch. If you can find a way to ditch some of the weight (maybe take the batteries out if it's possible), then this will work great.
