I've attached the owner's manual below for the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522. On page 8 there's a section going over how to specifically clean the tow bar using their tow bar cleaner # RM-9932 and then how to lubricate the tow bar using their lubricant # RM-747. It's important that you do not use other lubricants like WD-40 or grease on the tow bar as these will allow dirt/debris to stick and will bind up the tow bar.
Roadmaster recommends inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating their tow bars every 3,000 miles, but climates can vary so it's really going to depend on your usage and the areas you're travelling through. If you're travelling through rougher terrains you can make the decision to clean the tow bar as needed as well. I recommend when not in use you cover it with a storage cover # RM-055-3 to prevent any corrosion or debris build up.
The # RM-522 has a 6,000lb capacity so it'll be able to handle the 5,500lb GVWR of your vehicle since this is the fully loaded weight of the vehicle.
