Which Drill Bits Are Best For Drilling Into Steel
Question:
I bought part e98912 for my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium. I am having trouble drilling the access hole. What type of step bit is recommended for this job? My Ryobi 18V drill and titanium step bit are not cutting well at all, so any feedback/recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks!

Expert Reply:
I recommend using a cobalt bit because they dissipate heat quickly and are highly resistant to abrasions, making them better for drilling into hard metals than black oxide- or titanium-coated drill bits.
