Compatibility of Reese 16K Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch with 2007 Ford F150
Question:
We own a ford f150 4 wheel dr. pickup 2007.We have recently purchased a 1997 Prism 22 ft 5th wheel made by Thor.Please advise on the compatibility of the 2 and any special instructions on the hich.

Assuming that your 2007 F150 is the short bed model with the 6 foot 6 inch bed, using the 16K slider hitch should present no particular problem with your fifth wheel trailer. Although the slider will gain you more clearance between the rear of the truck cab and the front of the trailer, I cannot absolutely guarantee you will be able to negotiate 90 degree turns without the trailer hitting the cab.
We offer a Sidewinder Extended Replacement Pin Box that would relocate the pivot point between the hitch and the trailer from where the king pin locks into the hitch jaws, to the point where the pin box attaches to the trailer. The Sidewinder will provide 22 inches of additional clearance, which would most likely allow the 90 degree turns.
