Since you have a brand new tow vehicle and a new Tekonsha P3 brake controller I would first focus your troubleshooting efforts on the wiring in the trailer.
Something is causing an excessive current draw from the controller. The most common causes for an overload message on a brake controller are a corroded trailer connector, damaged trailer wiring or an issue with the trailer brake's wiring or magnets.
First verify that the P3 is correctly set to the type of brakes installed on your trailer, electric or hydraulic.
Inspect the trailer-side connector for any signs of corrosion; sometimes corrosion can build up to the point that it can bridge two separate circuits, resulting in a short. Please refer to the linked photo for the usual trailer connector pin configuration. Trailer wiring also can develop issues as a result of normal wear and tear; vibration/heat/cold can cause wiring to develop wear or cracks in the insulation layer, especially around areas that make tight turns and/or that are routed around sharp edges on the trailer frame where abrasion can lead to damage. You can also test the magnets in your electric trailer brakes.
I have linked two articles, one concerning general brake controller troubleshooting and the other the process for testing electric trailer brakes and the magnets themselves.
