Recommended Cargo Carrier for a 2011 Scion TC
Question:
Hello, I own a 2011 scion tc. I wanted to get a cargo basket to go on the bottom of my car. It will be used to carry equipment for my dog training buisness. Could you please tell me which basket you recommend? Also, how much does the basket weigh? Also, how much weight can I put on the basket including the weight of the baket? Thank you

I would be happy to! It looks like the only hitches for a 2011 Scion TC are 1-1/4" so you are going to be limited to 200 lbs total. With this in mind, I recommend the 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" item # C18145. This carrier measures 48" long x 20" wide x 6" tall and weighs only 28 lbs. You'll have right at 170 lbs of weight you can add to it. You can use the etrailer Cargo Bag w/ Mounting Straps item # 988501 to keep your equipment dry.
We actually did a review video of this cargo carrier being set up on a 2007 TC. I have linked it below so you can see the features demonstrated and know exactly what to expect.
If your 2011 Scion TC does not have a hitch. You will want to install the Draw-Tite item # 24815. This is a class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It is the only option available for your car. It has a 200 lbs maximum tongue weight capacity.
Additionally, if you are going to block your rear tail lights I recommend attaching some lighting to the cargo basket so you don't get pulled over. You'll need to add a wiring harness to your car using the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness item # HM11141964. Then for the basket itself you'll install the LED Light Kit for Cargo Carriers item # 98174LED and the etrailer Tail Light Mounting Brackets item # e98943.
