Can Ball Mount # BM20 Be Used in Rise Position
Question:
Can I flip the ball mount over without affecting towing. I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT 6cyl. All wheel Drive. Im towing a 17 ft. aluminum boat. Total weight 2000 lbs. By tuning the ball mount over it would be just about the right height otherwise it would be too low. Im getting this hitch installed at a trailer rental place and I just want to be sure. If I need to be 2 or 3 inches higher what would my options be? Thank You

The # BM20 ballmount can be used in either the rise or drop position, whichever will place the ball at the proper height so your trailer is towed level.
I have linked you to our help article that shows how to determine the rise/drop of ballmount you need. On level ground with the trailer jacked up so that its level, measure from the bottom of the coupler to the ground. Then measure from the inside top of the receiver tube to the ground. The difference between these two measurements indicates the rise or drop you'll need. If the coupler is higher than the receiver, you will use the ballmount in the rise postion. If the receiver is higher, you'll use the ballmount in the drop position. The # BM20 ballmount you referenced offers a 3/4 inch rise or a 2 inch drop. It might not always be possible to find a ballmount that perfectly levels the trailer, but if you can get within an inch or two, you're close enough. It's better to have the trailer a little high at the coupler than too low.
I have linked you to our selection of ballmounts for a Class III receiver, you can use the filters on the left side of the page to find the ballmount with the rise or drop you need.
