Are you able to carry 2 kayaks on roof. Need complete setup have bare roof p.s kayak weighs 69# what is best set up any help is deeply appreciated.

We do have some options for your 2005 Toyota Matrix. You will want to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity for your vehicle. You should be able to get that information from your owners manual or from a the dealership.

I recommend the Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack with Aero Crossbars. This system consists of parts # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK062. This system has locks in the leg covers that secures the rack to the roof of your vehicle.

For a kayak carrier I recommend the Yakima JayLow, part # Y04073. This can be used as a post-style mount system that allows you to carry 2 kayaks at one time. I have attached a product review for this carrier. It comes with one pair of ratcheting tie-downs, 2 straps, and buckle protectors.

You will want bow and stern tie-downs for your kayaks. I recommend the Yakima Bow/Stern Tie-Down Ropes w/ Ratchets and Strap Loops, part # Y04031. I have also attached a product review video for this kit.

Another option for tie-downs I recommend is the Malone Hood loops, part # MPG308. This system creates a temporary mounting system by simply closing them under the hood or trunk of your vehicle. This system also helps to prevent scratches to the vehicle paint.
