Replacing A TDE Model LP7000 Actuator

Question:

Hi, I have a 2008 Four Winns trailer with the TDE Model LP7000 brake actuator. It fits below and inside the tongue of the trailer. It seems to work going forward but will not let me back up either with the electric connection or with the pin in, I think its pretty much dying. The replacement suggested seems to set on top of the tongue. Ii have 2 questions Is there any replacement that fits the same way as my existing? If not, are the bolt patterns the same on the replacement as the existing?

The Dexter drop-n-go # 099-175-20 would definitely have the same capability as your TDE actuator, provided it is a disc brake setup. TDE is no longer in business so I'm afraid finding a direct replacement will be impossible. My main concern is the design and shape of the tongue. The Dexter actuator, along with the others we carry, are designed to go over the tongue and will fit a 3" wide tongue. Since your trailer was designed for a TDE actuator, the tongue is likely wider than 3". We do not have an actuator we can offer that will fit inside that tongue. At this point it would be recommended to replace the trailer tongue with a standard 3" wide tongue.
