How To Switch from Surge Brakes to Electric Brakes on Tandem Axle Trailer
Question:
Hi, I have an old tandem axle trailer Im trying to restore and Id like to convert from surge brakes to electric brakes. I have measurements and photos of the mounting flange and hub. I would like some assistance in picking out the correct backing plate assembly. Thanks.

I have a few options for you to help with identifying the correct electric brakes and hubs/drums for your trailer. The first and easiest method would be to crawl under the trailer and look for the axle tag on the beam. This should give an axle capacity which we can then use to find the brakes and hubs/drums based off industry standards.
For example, a 3,500 lb axle uses the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K and Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35-SA. In addition to these, you'd also need the junction box # 3375601101 a 7-Way Connector # H20046 and Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit part # 3802346.
If you have a different axle capacity, just let me know what that is and I'd be glad to see if I can come up with another list for you.
