How to Tell if 18 cu ft Malone Profile18S Rooftop Cargo Box Will Fit a Honda CR-V

Will this size cargo box be too big for my Honda CRV? Should I purchase the 16 cu ft version instead?

Expert Reply:
The 18 cu ft Malone Profile18S Rooftop Cargo Box # MPG910 will be able to fit on top of your Honda CR-V just fine since it's compatible with a crossbars spread of 25" - 36" (front of one bar to front of other bar).
To make sure you can still open your hatch though you'll have to check for that clearance as well; if you have at least 21" from the rear crossbar to the line where the roof and your hatch meet you'll still be able to open up your hatch completely (see attached).
Normally I would be able to give a little more confirmation either way, but without knowing the year of your CR-V these dimensions are what you'll need to use. If you have an older model CR-V with the swinging door instead of the hatch you obviously won't need to worry about hatch clearance.
