Any Tire Chains Acceptable For A 2014 Subaru Impreza
Question:
The users manual for this vehicle states that chains should not be used, due to lack of clearance and the chance that they could damage the AWD system, but some roads in California require chains to be carried by law. On the off chance that I actually had to put these on, could I be reasonably assured that my car wouldnt be damaged. If not, is there another traction device that might be better? Here is the relevant text from the manual: Tire chains CAUTION Tire chains cannot be used on your vehicle because of the lack of clearance between the tires and vehicle body. NOTE When tire chains cannot be used, use of another type of traction device such as spring chains may be acceptable if use on your vehicle is recommended by the device manufacturer, taking into account tire size and road conditions. Follow the device manufacturer’s in- structions, especially regarding max- imum vehicle speed. To help avoid damage to your vehicle, drive slowly, readjust or remove the device if it is contacting your vehicle, and do not spin your wheels. Damage caused to your vehicle by use of a traction device is not covered underwarranty. Make certain that any traction device you use is an SAE class S device, and use it on the front wheels only. Always use the utmost care when driving with a traction device. Overconfidence be- cause you are using a traction device could easily lead to a serious accident.

The text from the owners manual for your 2014 Subaru Impreza states pretty clearly that tire chains are not to be used on your vehicle. I cannot recommend any chains for your vehicle due to the fact that we cannot assure there will be no damage if you use tire chains.
They added a note that use of another traction device like spring chains may be acceptable. Although we do offer alternatives to the traditional tire chains, I am not certain if they would be acceptable as the owners manual states. I would recommend you contact Subaru to find out what constitutes a spring chain versus other types of tire chains.
We do offer Class S Compatible chains for vehicles although they are dependent on the size of the tire on your vehicle. I have attached a drawing that shows the dimensions you need to know when considering tire chains.
I have also attached a link to our product page where you can choose tire chains by tire size. You would use the drop down menus to pick the tire size you have and decide from that point if you want to choose tire chains. The text from your owners manual also states to make certain you use Class S traction devices. After finding chains you may choose, I recommend checking with your dealership to find out if they are acceptable and covered under warranty if you use them.
