Comparing Curt Universal 4-Way Flat Powered Modules For a 2013 Porsche Cayenne
Question:
I have a 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS, and I am trying to decide on a trailer wiring setup. Can you please explain the differences between Curt harnesses C59236, C59496. Also, will all of these powered harnesses constantly draw on the battery, even when the vehicle is off?

The Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236 comes with their standard powered module. They step up to the Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter # C59496 which has a upgraded module that helps protects against overvolt, ESD, and short-circuits.
All the powered harnesses will pull a small amount of power even when the vehicle is off. This power is needed to monitor the wiring spliced into the tail lights so it knows when the tail lights are activated. If the power was routed through an ignition source to reduce this drain the trailer lights would not work with the ignition off. This would not allow the hazard lights to work unless you left the ignition on.
