Availability of Quick-Connect Brake Controller Adapter for 2000 Chevrolet C3500 HD Pickup
Question:
If I buy a Tekonsha P3 brake controller for a 2000 Chevy C3500 HD is there permade adapter cable to hook into the trucks wiring or do I need to do the splicing for the brake controller myself.

If your 2000 Chevrolet C3500 HD pickup has a tow package with a 7-way trailer connector and wiring already in place, then you can use Tekonsha adapter # 3025-P to connect the Prodigy P3 # 90195 to the under-dash connection port. The adapter harness you referenced, part # 3026-P, will not fit.
The linked photo and article show the connection port and the linked video details an example of the brake controller installation process.
If your truck does not have a factory-installed 7-way (but has a 4-pole flat connector) then you will need in addition to the controller and adapter harness a brake control installation kit, # ETBC7 (for a 7-way or # ETBC6 for a 6-way trailer connector). It will also be necessary to make some electrical connections in the engine compartment to complete the brake controller installation. These connections are shown in the article in step 2. It may also be necessary to install some fuses in the power distribution box if they are absent.
If your truck does not have a 4-pole flat trailer connector to plug into the 7-way included in the ETBC7 then you will need to find the blunt-cut wires above the spare tire and splice them to the trailer connector as described in step 3C in the linked article.
