Does The ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad Require Special Wiring

Do I need special wire, besides the gauge? like hi temp resistant?

Expert Reply:
You'd most likely be fine just using some # 16-1-1 with the standard casing but you could also get some wire with exterior rated jacketing if you wanted to go the extra step. You can also get some wire loom # 7509-10 and run it the length of the wires and use electrical tape to secure it.
When installing the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad w/ Thermostat # 277-000164 you'll also want to use a switch like # 37212595 to be able to turn it off when not needed to avoid an unwanted drain on the battery. If you tie it directly to the battery instead of to a DC distribution panel then you'll also want an in-line fuse holder like # C58470 to protect the pad.
