Curt Echo In-Line & Trailer Connected Message on 2019 Ford Ranger When One Is Not
Question:
I purchased this controller recently Order #114272079 and installed it on my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat with the factory tow package last night. It controls my trailer brakes fine and functions properly with the trailer connected. My problem is with no trailer connected I constantly get alerts on my truck saying trailer is connected then disconnected then connected, and when it says a trailer is connected it gives me alarms saying my turn signals are faulty. I have reviewed the controllers installation instructions as well as my truck owners manual and cannot find a solution. Your website and Curts website indicates my truck is compatible with this controller. Thank You.

The trailer connected message is an issue with 2019 Ford Rangers, particularly with their 7-way wiring harnesses, and since the Curt Echo In-Line Wireless Brake Controller # C79DR installs in-line with the harness, it may have exacerbated the issue.
Ford actually issued a tech bulletin about this, and the in-line connectors have a tendency not to stay dry, so Ford says to unplug the connectors and make absolutely sure they are completely dry and use Dielectric Grease # 11755 to protect against corrosion and moisture.
