How to Measure a Propane Fitting to Ensure You Are Getting the Correct Adapter Fitting

Question:

Hello. You all have been so helpful in the past - and I think I’ve found the part I need on your website. I believe I need “ Propane Adapter Fitting - 3/8 Female SAE Flare x 1/4 Female NPT” but am only 80 sure that the part I want to screw into the 1/4” female end is actually 1/4” size. Is there a way to measure this? Thanks for the guidance!

Yes, there is a way to measure the fitting size to ensure it is the correct size to use with the Propane Adapter Fitting # 37207-30225. The best way to do this would be to use a digital caliper like the # PTW80157.

A 1/4" NPT fitting should measure 0.540". I have included a chart that shows the measurements of the fittings and a help article about propane fittings.

In the above of Thread Diameters for Fittings, the 3/8" Female flare is larger than the 1/2" Female Flare. Are you sure these measurements are correct?
