Recommended Flush Door Latch for Wells Cargo Trailer

Question:

I have a 1995 wells cargo trailer and the door handle latch strike tip has broke off. I have the versch style plastic covering. My cutout diameter for the latch is around 4 5/8x 3 1/2. It is the flush style handle also. However it appears that my latch needs to be significantly longer to be able to reach the strike plate on the trailer doorframe. The ones I have found new pictures appear to be the same length. Is there a latch with a longer striker?

Helpful Expert Reply:

I might have an option for you but we don't offer any flush door latches with an extended striker. However, the Full Size Locking Steel Flush Door Latch part # L3980 matches your door cutout at 4-5/8" long x 3-3/8" so this is our best option. If the striker does not reach the catch plate, I recommend moving the latch closer to the end of the door.

I have attached our full list of door latch options for you.
