Can The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System Be Mounted To Keep Tires Under Trailer Decking?

Question:

I’m building a custom 22’x 8’ trailer for hauling an 800 pound folding wing airplane. To maximize width I need to mount the axles so the tires are inside the frame and under the bed. I will construct a wheel well traversing the bed of the trailer. My intention is to use two 1,200 or 1,500 pound Timbren axles and equip one set with brakes. My question regards the feasibility of swapping sides with the two axle units and the potential effect on camber. From the video it seems camber is built into the units. Is this feasible to swap the side the axles are mounted on to put the wheels inboard? My goal with two lightweight axles is to create a smooth ride on this long, but lightweight trailer for an airplane.

I reached out to Timbren and they said you will be able to use the Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1200S04 in the orientation you are wanting but you will run into an issue with the camber and toe. The built in camber and toe of these parts is designed to help the trailer track straight. It may be best to create a structure under your trailer which will allow for these to still mount normally but still have the tires under your bed.

Do be sure to check your local laws as many now require for a trailer with braking axles to have tandem axles with brakes rather than just one.
