How to Carry a Bike with a 2008 Scion xD
Question:
Scion 2008 xD Hi - do you recommend a hitch for 2008 Scion xD? I want one with the square female receiver so I can place a bike rack into it - the rack wont be towed but fit into the hitch. See photo for the type I want. Thank you!

The only hitch that fit your 2008 Scion xD is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 11491 but that was discontinued back in 2020. (your photo didn't come through but I understand what type of hitch you're wanting)
With that being the case, we still have some alternatives for transporting a bike with your vehicle; with a trunk mount or roof mount bike rack.
A trunk mount rack, like the Thule Passage # TH910XT, is more cost-effective but it means you can't open up your rear hatch while it's installed and there is a safety note stating the bumper on your Scion isn't very strong and can become deformed if you leave the carrier on or use it all the time.
A roof mount rack costs more but keeps the bikes on your roof so you aren't adding length to your vehicle and you'll still be able to open up your rear hatch whenever you need to. For this setup I recommend going with the RockyMounts TomaHawk Roof Bike Rack # RKY1222 and installing it on the Inno Aero-style roof rack using these parts:
Inno Aero Crossbars - # INXB130-2
Through Feet - # INXS250
Fit Kit - # INK350
