Parts Needed To Add a 2nd 3,500 Lb Axle to a Trailer

Question:

I have a single axle pontoon boat trailer with 3500# springs. Could I use this kit to make it a dual axle? I have a spare axle, I would just need another set of springs and spring clamp kit.

The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APT8 does have mostly everything you need to convert a trailer from a single axle to a tandem axle. The old hangers would need to be cut off with the new ones welded in place. If you need help with hanger/axle placement you can reference the help article below.

In order to complete your setup you'll also need leaf springs that are the exact same as the existing, both length and weight capacity. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # e54SR for example is for a 3,500 lb axle and measures 25-1/8" long. If the axle doesn't have a hub then you can add this using the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35-SA with Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. I have also attached for you below a list of our wheel/tire selection as well.

Finally, if you didn't already have an identical axle you'd need to select one from the other link below.
