The Flint Hill Goods 29 X 49 Cargo Carrier # FHG69ZR for 2-Inch Hitches will fit on your 2005 Suburban if it is equipped with a 2-inch hitch. Your vehicle can be equipped with either a 2-inch or a 2-1/2-inch hitch so you will want to confirm the size of the receiver opening on your hitch to ensure it is the 2-inch size. This Flint Hill Goods carrier is rated for a maximum cargo load of 500-lbs. All of the hitches we offer are rated for at least 600-lbs tongue weight (tongue weight is the downward force applied to a hitch by whatever is connected to it). You can check the safety sticker on your hitch to see its tongue weight rating; the weight of the carrier plus the weight of what you load into it cannot exceed the hitch capacity.

If for example your hitch is rated for 600-lbs tongue weight, then you will be able to use the full 500-lb cargo capacity of this carrier (500-lbs of loaded cargo plus the 77-lb weight of the carrier will be within the 600-lb hitch capacity). If your hitch happens to be one rated for even higher weight, then you will still be limited to 500-lbs loaded cargo, because this is the carrier maximum, but you will have a worthwhile safety margin for your hitch. You can determine the fit of this carrier at the rear of the vehicle by measuring back from the hitch pin hole on the receiver tube to the rear-most part of the bumper. As long as this distance is 8-1/2 inches or less then the Flint Hill Goods carrier will clear the rear of the vehicle.
