Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For Carrying a Bike Rack With 2" Receiver Behind a 2016 Mazda 6
Question:
Hello I have a 2016 Mazda 6 and plan to equip it with your Curt 11356 hitch. I also want to add a 1/14 to 2 “ adapter so I can use my 2” bike rack. I know you recommend the HTAD for the class 1 hitch but can I go with the economy adapter since I understand the Curt does not have a stop inside to prevent ing longer shanks? Or am I missing something. Thx.

If you are wanting to use your 2" bike rack you will want to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7301 on your 2016 Mazda 6. Both the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # e43YR which will fit the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11356 and Hitch Adapter # HTAD reduce the capacity of the receiver by 50%. This will reduce the tongue weight from 200lbs to 100lbs by using the adapter and will likely push your bike rack with any bikes over the 100lb limit. By using the EcoHitch with a 2" receiver this will not need an adapter or lessen your tongue weight.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118587 will provide you with a 4-way flat connector. This will be required for towing and for Auxiliary Lights # C53201 if your bikes or bike rack impair the view of your tail lights.
