Why Is The Weight Capacity Different For The 2-5/16" Ball and Pintle On B&W Tow & Stow Hitch?
Question:
Why is the gtw rating split depending on how the hitch is used, why is it only a 10,000 lb rating when only using the ball with out pintle?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # BWTS10052 included with the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook # BWTS10056 is only rated for 10,000lbs. This is the only weight capacity 2-5/16" ball available for this hitch. As the pintle places the weight of the trailer on the entire assembly rather than only being on the ball itself it is capable of the higher rating.
