Parts Needed to Tow a Small Trailer With a 2015 Toyota Camry
Question:
Sir/Maam, I have a 2015 Toyota Camry. I have learned that although there are hitches made for it, Toyota doesnt recommend putting a trailer hitch on it. I would like to at some point pull a light boat, probably less than 1000 lbs. and/or use a cargo carrier. Is it really not advisable to put a hitch on this car, even for light applications? I certainly dont want to get another car just because of that.... BTW, is there a favorite roof rack system you would recommend for that car? Thank you

You can install a trailer hitch on your 2015 Toyota Camry without voiding your warranty per the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.
If you still choose to tow then I recommend using the Draw-Tite # 36540 trailer hitch, Tekonsha Wiring # 118405, and Ball Mount Kit # C45147 to do so.
Then for a roof rack I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex system because it's a solid middle-of-the-road system that has a 130 lb weight capacity which is on the higher end for roof racks that fit your Camry. You will need the following parts for this roof rack:
46" Vortex Crossbars - # RRVA118B-2
2500 Series Legs - # RRRLKVA
DK Fit Kit - # DK321
If you let me know what you plan on using the roof rack for I'd be more than happy to make additional recommendations as well.
