Brake Controller Connector and Recommendation for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma with Tow Package
Question:
I would say I have a generation 1 2005 Tacoma with a factory tow package. Any idea if it needs specific connections or does it clip into the truck easily? Truck is stock condition. No aftermarket modifications were ever made.

If your 2005 Toyota Tacoma has the factory tow package then you can use the Custom Wiring Adapter # 3040-P and Redarc Adapter # 331-TPH-017 to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR and avoid splicing into any wiring on your truck. If you have the accessory panels on your truck you can also use the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-007 to give your install a custom look.
Attached is a photo from the instructions for the adapter so you can see where the plug should be located. IT shouldn't be connected into anything already but will be taped up with a bundle of other wires so that connector you show in your second photo wouldn't be what you're needing.
Attached is a review video of the Liberty for you to check out. If you don't have the tow
