Motor Upgrade Kit And Air Springs For A 1995 Oshkosh X-Line

Question:

I have 95 Fleetwood Flair 32HD and the KWIKEE electric steps don’t function. The serial no. is: 103073 32 series. The motor has two numbers that I could see: 151332 and at the bottom: 151330-1. I assumed that I could just buy another motor and controller, install them onto the very decent set of 3 retractable steps, and “BOOM”, back in business… well, apparently that’s not the case and the contained in the KWIKEE IMGL and 9510 control replacement kit #214 is beyond convoluted. Can’t I just “wire” this controller up to extend and retract the “THREE METAL STEPS” that function more or less the SAME? If not, can you point me in the right direction? Exactly which controller and motor do I need to order? Thank you P. S. I am also very interested in knowing whether or not I can install an “Air Ride” system on my rv?

I spoke with Lippert, and they said since you have a 1995 step, you are going to need to order the Motor Upgrade Kit for Kwikee Electric RV Steps # LC29VR, which includes a new motor, controller, and door switch.

This is because around 2006 Kwikee changed/updated their electronics on these steps, so the old parts are now obsolete.

They also did mention that you can also purchase a new set of steps If you'd rather do that instead.

Additionally, you can absolutely install an air ride system on your 1995 Oshkosh X-Line. Take a look at the:

-Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted # F2071.

This system will increase stability, absorb road shock, and have a load-leveling capacity of 4,800-lbs.

Also, for a compressor kit, I recommend using the Firestone Air Command I - Analog Gauge w/ Light-Duty Compressor # F2158, which has a maximum PSI of 130, and includes everything you need to control your air springs.
