Can a Trailer Ramp Door Spring System Be Used on a 12 x 16 Foot Building

Question:

IVE BEEN TRYING TO DO RESEARCH AS TO WHAT TYPE OF LIFT SYSTEM WOULD BE BEST FOR MY NEW UTILITY BUILDING. MY BUILDING IS A HAND MADE 12foot X 16foot SIZE AND MADE HD ON SKIDS. THE LARGE LIFT DOOR I HAD MADE OUT OF LAYERING 6 SHEETS OF PLYWOOD TO KEEP THE THICKNESS DOWN. BEING THAT 1foot IS CUT OFF OF EACH SHEET OF PLYWOOD TO MAKE THE DOOR, TECHNICALLY ITS MADE UP OF 4.5 SHEETS, AND I WOULD ASSUME THIS DOOR WEIGHS APPROX. 200 - 250 LBS. THIS 6foot X 6foot DOOR IS GOING TO BE USED TO GET POWER EQUIPMENT AND ALSO A MOTORCYCLE IN AND OUT OF THE BUILDING, VERY SIMILAR TO A DRAW BRIDGE. I HAVE A HEAVY DUTY HEADER ABOVE THE DOOR OPENING. MY QUESTION IS OUT OF THE 2 DUAL SPRING DOOR ASSEMBLIES WHICH ONE DO U THINK WOULD WORK BEST FOR MY APPLICATION. I HAVE THE EXTRA ROOM ON EITHER SIDE OF MY DOOR FOR THE 96inch ASSEMBLY, BUT THE 81inch IS THE BETTER FIT. BOTH ASSEMBLIES STATE THEY WEIGH THE SAME 39LBS, BUT THE 96inch ERS160D96 SAYS IT HAS 40LBS MORE LIFTING CAPABILITY 160LBS AND I WAS WONDERING HOW IF THE PACKAGES WEIGHT THE SAME? I WOULD ASSUME THE LONG SHAFT IS THE SAME THICKNESS. DOES THE 96inch ASSY. HAVE STRONGER SPRINGS? LONGER SPRINGS, THICKER SPRINGS THAN THE 81inch KIT? I COULD CUT THE EXTRA LENGTH OFF OF THE 96inch IF NEED BE TO GET THE KIT WITH THE BEST LISTING CAPACITY. IM SURE I COULD ADD SOME EXTRA GARAGE DOOR STYLE LIFTING SPRINGS TO THIS APPLICATION IF NEED BE TO ASSIST. IF YOU WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EITHER ONE OF THESE KITS COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE A SUGGESTION.THANKS FOR THE EXPERT ADVISE AHEAD OF TIME.

I do recommend the 96 inch system # CB250D96SHD. You can trim down the length for a better fit. The 250 pound capacity will be enough for your door as long as your maximum weight is correct.

The springs are longer than on the shorter systems, as is the main shaft. The actual product weight is going to be slightly different with this system being around 45 lbs.

It is also strongly advised to have this system professionally installed by a garage door company because torsion springs can be dangerous especially if you have no experience with them.
