Recommended Hitch for Bike Rack on 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Question:
Wondering if larger vs smaller hitch affects stability/wiggling??? I believe I can put either size on this Crosstrek but havent checked on that yet...

There is a Class I and a Class III available for your Subaru XV Crosstrek. Anytime the option is available, I recommend going with the more common 2 inch receiver offered by the Curt Class III receiver, part # C13135. The Class III hitch is only a few dollars more than the Class I, and there are many more bike racks and other hitch mounted accessories compatible with the 2 inch receiver.
As far as stability goes, the size of the receiver will have no difference on the stability of the hitch accessory. Many of the bike racks we offer use anti-rattle threaded hitch pins or locks that do an excellent job of holding the shank of the hitch mounted accessory very tightly in the receiver tube, so there will not be any movement.
If you would care to respond and tell me how many and what types of bikes you are wanting to carry, I would be happy to recommend a bike rack for you.
I have linked you to the installation instructions and an install video showing the Curt # C13135 being installed on a 2013 XV Crosstrek.
