Best Weight Distribution System for a 2021 Salem Cruise lite 261BHXL
Question:
My wife just decided we needed a TT a couple weeks ago. Weve never owned one before. She went and picked out a 2021 Salem Cruise lite 261BHXL. We pick it up in a few weeks. Ive been trying to decide on a WDH. I have a 2013 F150 with a 5.4L at the moment. Id like to get this right the first time. Im thinking well probably need a system with sway control. What do you recommend?

Congrats on the new travel trailer! It looks like your new 2021 Salem Cruise lite 261BHXL has a maximum weight when loaded of just under 7,500 lbs. With this in mind your tongue weight is typically 10% - 15% of the trailers total weight when loaded. This would put your tongue weight somewhere around 750 lbs - 1,125 lbs. I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37120ET. This system has a tongue weight range of 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs which would be perfect for your new trailer. It has integrated 4-point sway control which limits side-to-side movement. The brackets keep your spring bars in place for a rigid system that holds the trailer in line. Steel-on-steel friction helps to minimize sway that is caused by winds, curvy roads or sudden maneuvers.
I also recommend the Classic Accessories Tow Bar and Weight Distribution Tote item # CA80113. This heavy duty bag is perfect for storing your weight distributing hitch. It is 36" x 11" Wide x 8" Tall and has padding that prevents damage to your hitch and prevents dings to your vehicle's cargo area from shifting gear.
