Recommended Hitch Extender For A RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack On My 2016 Roadtrek Ranger RT
Question:
Were looking for the right extension unit so that this Rockymounts RKY10002 will clear the continental spare tire assembly on a 2016 Roadtrek Ranger RT chevy based when the rack is closed and in the vertical position. Based on the sketches posted in your website, it would appear the cradles for the bicycle wheels are about 5. The dimension indicated from the pinhole to the assembly provided in the post is 7, but it doesnt show how much the cradles will encroach. Thank you.

The 7" when this rack is in the folded up position, you mentioned in your question, does take the cradles of this bike rack into account. This measurement is from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # RKY10002. There is not a part of the BackStage closer than 7" to the rear of your vehicle.
If your spare tire is more than 7" from the center of your hitch pin hole, I recommend adding the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 8" Long, part # C45791, will extend your hitch bike rack an additional 8". You will have to check the owner's manual of your 2016 Roadtrek Ranger RT for its maximum tongue weight, because adding a hitch extender will reduce your trailer hitch's maximum tongue weight by 50%.
