Do Brake Actuator Master Cylinders Have Weight Capacities

Question:

I have a 12,525lb gvwr, the master cylinder is bad. Do differing weight limits require different master cylinder. The Coupler is a Model 10, and the master cylinder has 23744 stamped on it.

The weight capacity is determined by the actuating coupler itself, and not just the master cylinder. Master cylinders are specific to the actuator models. Most of the Model 10 couplers have a weight capacity of 12500 lbs.

If you are looking for a replacement master cylinder for your Model 10 actuator, we do offer the replacement master cylinder for drum brakes, part # DX66FR. We also offer a replacement master cylinder for a disc brake Model 10 actuator. That part number is # T4749501042. If you are towing your trailer with the maximum capacity, an option you may wish to consider is to bring the total weight of your trailer below the coupler capacity if possible. Towing above the capacity of an actuator can cause stress on the internal components.
