What Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 2 60-Pound E-Bikes with a Class I 1-1/4 Hitch?

Question:

When i go to the Thule website, it says the hitch will hold two 60 pound bikes. thats what I have. You say two 50 pound bikes. Why? Which is it? Does it matter that I have a hitch thats 1.25inch vs. 2? Thanks

I have a great solution for you to transport your 2 60-pound bikes on a 1-1/4" Class I hitch. However, the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches # TH23JV has a maximum overall weight capacity of 100 pounds when 2 bikes are loaded. This is because the construction of a Class I 1-1/4" hitch cannot support as much weight as the 2" XTR counterpart # TH83JV. I went ahead and attached a diagram from the Thule instructional manual that compares the capacities of both racks.

With that being said, if you have 2 60-pound bikes, you need a different rack. For an amazing rack that does not reduce its per-bike weight capacity with two bikes loaded on a Class I hitch, I recommend the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH903202. The EasyFold XT comes with an integrated ramp that makes loading and unloading a breeze; you never need to lift the wheels off the ground. Also, it comes loaded with locks that deter theft of the rack and the bikes. Another great benefit is that since the rack has independently-adjusting cradles that fit virtually every frame type, you do not need a bike frame adapter bar if you have step-thru bikes, women's bikes, or children's bikes. If you happen to have fat tires that are between 3" and 4-11/16", you need the fat bike straps # TH985101 for each bike.
