Replacement Leaf Springs for 2020 Discovery Enclosed Trailer With 25-1/4 4,500 Pound Leaf Springs
Question:
I have a 2020 Discovery enclosed trailer with a dexter axle and brakes. I tow Motorcycles for a business and this trailer springs were stretched with in the first year. I installed some 4500# 4 leaf from Northern Tool rockwell brand I think. Now a year later have the same thing happening even with my 570 polaris rzr which is only 1000 lbs . Would you recommend your 5000 lb. 25 1/4inch 5 leaf or even 6000 lb to over ride my hauling needs. I do about 300 plus motorcycles a year and sometimes two bikes but max weigh never over 1600 lbs combines plus the trailer empty at 1600 lbs. Let me know what you think would be necessary. My last trailer lasted 7 years but had the torsion springs so that may be an option to switch over too. Thanks

Typically you want your leaf springs to match your axle capacity. I'm not sure what axle capacity you have now, but assuming you didn't suffer a harsh ride with the 4,500 lb leaf springs the 25/1-4" 5,000 lb leaf springs like the # e44SR should be fine and hold up better. Keep in mind, you will still be limited by the capacity of your axle or whatever other trailer component has the lowest rating.
I would not recommend moving to 6,000 lbs since that is quite a big jump over the 4,500 you have now, although we do have them available # e34SR. You may find that the torsion holds up better, but that would also require axle replacement.
Something else you may want to consider is adding additional support with SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs. These will reduce the load on your leaf springs and help keep them from wearing out as fast. If you have an underslung axle you would need the # TSS-106-40 and for an overslung axle the # TSS-107-40.
