Does the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier 195125 Have a Maximum Wheel/Tire Diameter

Question:

Can someone explain why the specs on this are quoted in maximum wheel diameter versus maximum tire diameter? In the demonstration video, the tire shown has a very tall sidewall. Why could a larger wheel diameter with a shorter sidewall not work? I am not seeing an indication that a larger rim and shorter sidewall tire of the same overall tire height as in the demo video would interfere with anything? Thanks.

The Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 holds virtually all wheels with a lug nut circle up to 8". The wheel diameter does not matter. The tire diameter and sidewall also do not matter. The only possible exception is deep dish or dually-style wheels which would require you to use the # RM-195225. The only requirement is that the distance between the bolt holes across from each other on the wheel does not exceed that 8" limit.

The review video for the spare tire carrier shows this starting at the 2 minute mark. What he is measuring is the distance between the bolt holes to show how and where to measure on the wheel. As long as your lug nut circle measures 8" or less, you have a 2" receiver, and you do not exceed the flat towing capacity of 6,000 lbs and tongue weight of 200 lbs you will be able to use the # RM-195125.

I have attached the review video for your reference.
