What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 5th-Wheel Trailer with 235/80-16 Tires?

Question:

I have a 5th wheel with 235/80R16 tires. What do you have in snow chains that will fit these? Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:

For your 5th-wheel trailer with 235/80-16 tires, I recommend using tire chains on your braked axles. This is because you will get the most added traction out of chains installed on these tires. However, as with all tire chain applications, I recommend consulting with your owner's manual to make sure you abide by all guidelines outlined by the manufacturer.

With that being said, we do carry great chain options for your tires. I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2319. Not only do these chains come with integrated tensioners, they are also Class S compatible. This class designation is especially made for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance. By having smaller, thinner chains, you dramatically reduce the potential for damage to wheel well components on your trailer. For required clearance, you need a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well and at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows you how to make this measurement.
