Which Coupler Lock Set is Best for Use with Atwood Trailer Coupler 81911

Question:

Hello, I currently have this part #81911 installed on my trailer - And I m looking to put a coupler lock on it but am having trouble finding the right length of lock to fit - Im wanting to purchase the deadbolt series locks mgf by C.T.Johnson and am stuck as they have several models available - RHC-32, RHC-33, RHC-34, and RHC-35. Since you might have these lock sets in stock and also you already have the coupler part #81911 - could you install and find out whats the best fitting lock for this coupler? Thank You

The Atwood Trailer Coupler 81911 that you have on your A-frame trailer can be locked in two ways, by securing the latch and by blocking entry of a hitch ball.

The latch mechanism on the top can be locked with an item like the Dead Bolt # e98884. (This latch lock is one of the two locks included in part # e99039, which is our reference for the CT Johnson part RHC32.) But please note that this latch lock has a center span of only 1/2-inch; the coupler latch on your # 81911 requires a latch lock with a center span of 3/4-inch or more. You can instead use Master Lock # 2847DAT, which adjusts to fit various width coupler latches.

The other type of lock that can be used on the coupler itself is the type that blocks entry of a hitch ball for times when the trailer is unhitched. We offer such a universal coupler lock from Fastway, part # FA86-0015-318, that fits all coupler sizes (so its transferable from trailer to trailer). This lock features a chrome-plated hardened-steel shackle and a tube-style lock cylinder, which is much harder to pick. 2 tube keys are supplied. I have linked a product review video for this item.
