What is the Difference Between Thule DoubleTrack Pro and DoubleTrack Pro XT Bike Racks
Question:
Hello, sometimes I see this rack with the vertical press-down hooks to hold the frame in place by the top tube Pro 2, while other times I see this rack with the rotating clamps that adjust to hold the top tube or down tube Pro XT2. Is this the same rack but with different frame securing methods? Which to do recommend? They seem to cost the same. Is it basically the same rack but with different frame securing methods? I have a frame bag hanging down from my top tube so I think the Pro 2 would be better, since it secures from the top. Thank you!

Great question!
The older Thule DoubleTrack Pro 9054 can carry slightly heavier bikes (by 2.5 lbs) and a larger wheelbase (by 3-1/2") than the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT # TH92BJ, plus the rotating clamps do offer a wider variety of mounting options so you probably won't need an Adapter Bar # TH982XT if your bike rack has a step-thru frame like what you would with the Pro XT.
So the older bike rack did have some perks but it's no longer available so I recommend going with the Pro XT as it will be much easier to find replacement parts for the newer bike rack further down the road.
I've attached some review videos for you to check out.
