Ground Clearance Difference for Pro Series # 63153 and Curt # C18130 Cargo Carriers on 2008 Sienna
Question:
What is the differences between the cargo carriers model # c18130 and c63153 when it comes to rear ground clearance?

Expert Reply:
Both the Pro Series # 63153 and Curt # C18130 cargo carriers have an angled shank to provide better ground clearance than straight-shank types. The Pro Series has 2-1/2-inches of rise in the shank while the Curt has 3 inches of rise.
Also the Curt carrier has the ability to adjust the placement of the carrier basket on the shank and includes the required hitch pin and clip, while the Pro Series does not. You can use part # PC3 or a locking anti-rattle hitch pin such as # 63232. The Pro Series can be equipped with a lighting kit, part # 20174, which is required if your cargo blocks the tail lights on your vehicle.
Both carriers have a 500-lb maximum rated capacity and both fit 2-inch hitch receivers. Please note that your 2008 Toyota Sienna can be fitted with either 1-1/4-inch or 2-inch hitches.
It is important to keep in mind that the lowest-rated component in the hitch/carrier system determines the overall capacity. The 2-inch hitches for your Sienna are rated for a maximum tongue weight of 350-lbs. Both cargo baskets weigh over 50-lbs. This means that when used with a 350-lb-rated hitch you will only be able to safely load up to about 297 lbs of cargo with the 53-lb Curt basket, and up to about 291 lbs of cargo with the Pro Series, which weighs 59 lbs.
I have included a link to a helpful article concerning cargo carriers. I have also provided a link to our main product page for all cargo carriers that will fit a 2-inch hitch, which includes both fixed and folding types.
