Recommended A-Frame Coupler To Replace A Ram A-Frame Coupler With A Sloppy Fit
Question:
My Ram, similar to Item # CA-5210-B, is really sloppy/noisy on my 2 inch ball new. The Ram is on my Aliner Ascape trailer. The coupler has no adjustment to snug it up. Something my previous trailer had so I had no issues. Im seriously contemplating to get it changed but want to be sure that my replacement has an adjustment to snug up the coupler/ball. Does the Item # CA-5210-B listed have such an adjustment? If not that one, which ones do? Since my current one is welded on I want to be sure Im not going from frying pan into the fire. /Thank You.

The A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5210-B will have the exact same yoke latch as your current Ram coupler, so it will not be adjustable, unfortunately. With that said, if you were over doing the weight capacity and can swing the Dutton Lainson A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DL14008 with 5,000 pounds of capacity, it will have the adjustability you are looking for.
If you do need more capacity than that though, your best option will be the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14791-97. This is actually rated up to 10,000 pounds, but it does have a limited amount of adjustability. There is an allen bolt holding the latching mechanism together than can be set to where you need it to be, but again, this is pretty limited and it may bottom out before it is as tight as you want it.
